UNDP in Tajikistan supported the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Republic of Tajikistan in organizing the Post COP 27 round table, devoted to presenting the outcomes and implications of Tajikistan Pavilion, organized on November 7 through 17 on the sidelines of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

The high-level event was opened by the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon and UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan Mr. Lenni Montiel, and highlighted the extended level of Tajikistan’s representation and engagements, facilitated for the first time in the history of the UNFCCC Conferences of Parties. As such, the National Pavilion accommodated more than 20 side events and more than 30 bilateral meetings, having thus improving the visibility of Tajikistan’s initiatives on climate adaptation and attracting attention of international community and development partners to the Initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to declare 2025 “The International Year for Preservation of Glaciers” and establish a specialized “International Fund for Glacier Preservation”.  Along with that, the Pavilion served as a platform for practitioners and experts across all sectors and levels to share experiences, lessons learned, best practices, and ideas for better policies to advance the implementation of Climate Action at the country level and globally.

The Tajikistan Pavilion was organized by the Committee on Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan with extensive support of UNDP in Tajikistan and other development partners. It allowed interactions with a wide range of national and international partners and donors, including the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia, Food and Agriculture Organization, the United States Agency for International Development, Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, World Meteorological Organization, Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Armenia, International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, as well as landlocked developing countries and small island developing states.
