ASTANA. KAZINFORM – In 2023, it is planned to implement 15 new projects of renewable energy sources (RES) with a capacity of 257 MW. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov at a briefing of the Central Communications Service, Kazinform correspondent reports.

“This year, 12 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 385 MW have been implemented. In 2023, it is planned to commission another 15 new renewable energy projects with a capacity of 257 MW. Auctions were successfully held for flexible generation projects with a capacity of 1,200 MW and for renewable energy projects with a capacity of 440 MW,” B. Akchulakov said.

In general, according to him, in 2022 it is expected to generate electricity in the amount of 112.7 billion kWh, or 98.5% compared to the same period last year. Of this amount of 4.5 billion kWh from renewable sources, the decrease is due to the high generation base of last year due to the presence in the mining market, which was limited this year. The 2023 plan for electricity generation is 114.9 billion kWh. For renewable energy sources, generation will amount to 4.5 billion kWh, which is 6.6% more than last year. In 2023, the plan for electricity generation from renewable sources will be 5 billion kWh.

In total, 442 MW of new electrical capacities were commissioned this year. It is planned to commission 482 MW next year.

This year, the Energy Balance until 2035 was developed and approved, within which the development of the energy complex was modeled, with the calculation of forecasts for the production and consumption of electricity.
